Crunchy Mamas Review & Giveaway

I recently had the opportunity to try some products by Crunchy Mamas. I am in love with these products! I’ve been really interested in essential oils lately and Crunchy Mamas’ products are packed full of quality ingredients and beneficial essential oils.

I’d have to say the most beneficial to me has been their Nipstick. Now that Nora has two bottom teeth (how did that happen?!) my nipples are paying for it. We’re working on adjusting her lazy latch, in addition to trying to unlatch when she pulls or nips. Sometimes trying to unlatch her just makes things worse but, I digress. I love that Nipstick comes in this awesome tube like a giant lip balm. While I liked the other brand of nipple cream I was using, digging it out of the jar isn’t always easy or convenient. For this, I pull off the cap, rub some on, and voila! It goes on nice and smooth and provides great moisturization.

At first I was a little disappointed after reading that it said to wash nips prior to nursing. This was just another step that I wasn’t interested in, especially since preparing to nurse is still a fiasco with having to use the LatchAssist. However, after talking to the Crunchy Mamas, this is a precaution that they use for legal protection. They said they couldn’t advise me on what to do, but that if I felt comfortable with not washing prior to nursing, I could certainly do so. Since I use Nipstick immediately after nursing and don’t feed her again for another 2-4 hours, I decided I felt okay not washing my nipples. Besides, it absorbs so nicely so it’s not as if anything is hanging around for baby to eat a big glob :)

Another product that has really been convenient is the Baby Butt Balm. Again, I love that this stuff is in a tube so you can just swipe it on. My hands already get plenty dirty changing diapers, I don’t need one more thing to mess in! Clean baby’s bottom, pop off the cap, give a good swipe and you’re all set. This is safe for cloth diapers (which is a must for me!) and I love how it smells. It’s full of beneficial ingredients like omegas, coconut oil, and plenty of essential oils.

This might be the one I was most excited to try. I’ve really wanted to try a natural deodorant. There are a few I have pinned to one of my boards. There are also a bunch of options out there for sale. I guess I just haven’t taken the plunge yet. I do use a more natural brand from my local health food store, but it still isn’t something that I could make on my own (which is what I’d like) and has some ingredients that I could do without. I was really intrigued by Her Pit. The lavender sweet orange scent is amazing! It smells like candy in a jar. Another benefit? My armpits are so smooth! We’re talking silky status. It offers pretty good odor protection but, since I sweat a ton, I found that I needed to apply more midway through the day. This wasn’t the case every day but I definitely needed a refresher some days. If you’re not a sweat ball like me, it may work better for you :)

Edit: I’ve been using Her Pit a little longer now and don’t feel like I have any residual stink. Maybe the body needs to go through an adjustment period when you start using it? This would probably be especially true if you’re used to using a commercial deodorant and antiperspirant.

And last, but certainly not least, is the Lip Balm. Oh my sweet heaven, this stuff is good!! I’m slightly obsessed with lip balm because I despise my lips feeling dry. I keep one in the diaper bag, one in my purse (for the rare occasions I leave the house without Nora, one on my nightstand, and one in the living room/kitchen area. Hands down, this is the best lip balm I’ve ever tried! It’s not at all greasy or oily, despite being loaded with awesome ingredients like coconut oil and essential oils. I tried Naked (which is a plain) and Honey Lemon. Honey and Lemon is one of my favorite combinations, especially in the fall and winter months. And you can’t beat the price on this. $3 for a tube of Lip Balm!! Other flavors include Cinnamon, Clove, Mint and Ginger. I’ll be adding all of these to my stash!

One of my favorite things about all the Crunchy Mama products is that a little goes a long way, so they will last a long time. I also love that they are so reasonably priced, so anyone can afford these. I love when you don’t need to spend a ton of money to get quality, organic, good-for-you products. Plus, you support two mamas who just want to provide great products for people who care what goes on and in their body. Does it get any better?!
